Top End Linguistic Circle

About the Top End Linguistic Circle (TELC)

The Top End Linguistic Circle (TELC) is an informal association of linguists and other language workers in the ‘Top End’ of the Northern Territory of Australia. It has held a couple of meetings and workshops almost every year since it began in the mid 1970s, when meetings were first held under the name ‘The Linguistic Circle of Rum Jungle’. For more on the history of TELC, see our history page.

TELC participants have mostly been from the following organisations, as well as retired linguists in the area:

Meetings rotate among these organisations, and are organised by local TELC members. Often meetings are scheduled to enable visiting linguists to give presentations.
